“Pinatubo: The Volcano in Our Backyard,” the new book of Robby Tantingco will be launched by the Holy Angel University (HAU) on June 14, Tuesday, 5 p.m. at the Academic Lecture Hall, St. Joseph Building.
The book launching is part of the province-wide celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Mount Pinatubo’s eruption.
Tantingco, who is also the directors of HAU’s Center for Kapampangan Studies, said the book recounts the events that transpired before, during and after the June 15, 1991 Pinatubo eruption. The book also tells the stories of Kapampangans who survived the eruption and succeeding lahar devastations.
“Kapampangans aged 20 years and below don’t have a memory of Pinatubo, which is why we need to remind them of how the volcano changed our lives,” Tantingco said.
The book launching will be preceded by a photo-art exhibit by Guy “Indra” Hilbero and Herminigildo Pineda, and followed by a concert, both at the University’s Plaza San Jose.

After seeing on the TV the destructions and havoc brought by the eruptions of Mount Pinatubo, The Philippine Medical Association of Wisconsin USA decided to raised funds
to donate artesian wells to areas where they are urgently needed. We were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Jose Flores of Masantol and Macabebe. They were able to asses the areas where they can dig. And when about ten wells were all dug and functioning, Dr.and Mrs, Jimmy Yamat , myself and my spouse Gloria flew from Milwaukee to personally deliver
the wells to the people.In Floridablanca, Mayor Capulong invited the then Senator Gloria Macapagal who had shown a personal appreciations to our gift of artesian wells to our beloved Pampanga.
