Budget-friendly hotel opens in Angeles City

A new budget-friendly hotel opened recently in Angeles City to serve the increasing number of passengers at the Clark airport. The 160-room Tune Hotel opened last February 10, which was also the second day of the 17th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.

Located just at the perimeter of Clark Freeport Zone, the 10-story Tune Hotel on Don Juico Avenue in Balibago is an answer to many budget-conscious travelers who opt for comfort and convenience. Tune Hotel’s CEO Mark Lankester the hotel pioneered the concept of “empowering hotel guests” by giving them the option to pay only hotel amenities they choose under a “pay-as-you-use” scheme.

Angeles City and City of San Fernando formalized twin cities agreement

The “twin cities” agreement has been formally declared by Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of the City of San Fernando. The agreement was disclosed over the weekend to the local officials and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the commitment signing for the Manila Bay Clean Up and Rehabilitation Project.

Mayors Pamintuan and Rodriguez both confirmed that the twin cities agreement will cover not only the solid waste management, clean-up of creeks and waterways, but also on the investment, tourism, and socio-economic aspects.

19 AUF nurses on recent Nursing Board Exam Top 20

Angeles University Foundation (AUF) made history in the recent nursing board exam. When the July 2011 Nurse Licensure Examination were released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), 19 AUF nursing graduates landed on the top 20 list.

The topnotch list is led by Nicole Marie T. Severino who placed 6th. VAW desk in every barangay in Angeles City

All 33 barangays of Angeles City have VAW desk.

VAW or the violence against women desk is in compliance with the RA 9170 or the Magna Carta for Women and Joint memorandum Circular No. 2010-02 which mandated all local government units to establish VAW desks in all barangays.

It this city’s way of sending a statement that rape, domestic violence, illegal trafficking and other violence against women and children is totally unacceptable here.

Angeles City teacher is 2011 Metrobank Outstanding Teachers awardee

Marcela Jingco, English teacher at the Angeles Elementary School in barangay Pulungbulo topped the search for the 2011 Metrobank Foundation Search of Outstanding Teachers for elementary category. She was awarded with a gold medal and a plaque in Malacañang by President Benigno Aquino III recently.

The Angeles City government is set to recognize Marcela Jingco for landing on the outstanding teachers list and even being proclaimed as the Most Outstanding Teacher among the 10 awardees. Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan was present during the awarding rites and lauded the awardee for her commendable feat.

“I congratulate Jingco for landing in the top 10 and even being chosen the most outstanding among them. Truly, this shows that our school teachers are one with the goal of the city in promoting quality education with no prejudice to rank or social stature,” Pamintuan said.

Angeles City Government distributes cash grants to 4Ps beneficiaries

The Angeles City government recently gave the conditional cash grants to some families under its 4Ps program, or the “Pantawid sa Pamilyang Pilipino Program.”

There were approximately 655 families from Barangays Balibago, Capaya, Cutcut, Cutud, Cuayan, Lourdes Northwest, Pampang, Pandan, Pulung Cacutud, Salapungan, Sapangbato, Sta. Teresita, Sta. Trinidad and Sto. Rosario received the cash grants during the turnover ceremony which was held in Barangay Pulungbulu.

Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan reminded the families that the grants they received were meant to sustain their nutrition and educational needs. “My constituents, particularly the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Program, are really thankful to President Aquino for the cash grant given to them,” he said.

Angeles Red Cross collects 190 bags in recent blood-letting program

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Pampanga-Angeles Chapter was able to collect a total 190 blood bags during the recent blood-letting program held at the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) in Camp Olivas, Pampanga.

Augusto B. Ocampo, administrator of the PNRC Pampanga-Angeles Chapter, said the blood-letting program was timely because of the alarming increase of the dengue cases in the region.

Dengue victims needed to have their lost blood replaced right away.

City government re-launched the Citizen’s Charter

Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led the re-launching of the Citizen’s Charter in order to help curb “red tape” in government services, last Thursday at the Sangunian Session Hall.

The mayor acknowledges that the Republic Act 9485, also known as the anti-red tape act is an important factor in lessening and eventual removal of graft and corruption in local governance.

Pamintuan said during the re-launching that they need to “imbibe among all employees of city hall a culture of prompt, efficient and transparent service.” He also reminded government employees to always wear a smile whenever they provide services to the people and looks forward to making the city hall “a model and benchmark of efficiency and client-friendly service.”

Swiss company to set up P285 M plant inside Clark

Switzerland-based Special Precision Tools (SPT) Clark Corporation recently signed an agreement with Clark Development Corporation (CDC) to invest in Clark Freeport Zone.

The Swiss firm will invest in a P285-million manufacturing firm which will be established inside the Philexcel Business Park in Clark.

SPT will be leasing a total land area of 4,872 square meters inside Philexcel, said CDC President Antonio Felipe B. Remollo. The manufacturing plant is expected to supply the needs of various firms which include Texas Instruments, Siemens, and other leading semi-conductor firms in Clark.

Medical City opens in Angeles City

The Medical City opens in Angeles City, and it is located at Sto. Entierro St., Sto. Cristo Village.

Housed at the former Mercedez Medical Center (also known as Pamana), the 50-bed hospital was added to The Medical City (TMC) chains of hospitals.

TMC executive Anne Ruth dela Cruz said the opening of TMC-Angeles is in line with the company’s thrust to develop a national network serving a wider geographic and socio-economic base.
